Tefillin scrolls with wrapped pei (Pei Kefulah) - need dating
Recently fell into my hands on the occasion a full set of 5 large ( width 45-46mm) and beautifully written ancient Ashkenazi scrolls of the Tefillin in very nice condition, but only yesterday has completely turned them to get a better look and saw the same "double pei". I was sure that this was such a rare phenomenon that I would never personally come across it. But fate would bring mind blowing surprises when least expected. Previously I knew about such mysterious writing of the letter Pei only from a book of Yehoshua Twersky "Bechatzar HaTzadik", where he wrote: “...Apart from the hidden, what is revealed in the Ba’al Shem Tov’s Torah scroll, which is clearly visible to all who look at it? The form of some of the letters is slightly different… the ‘pei’ is also different from the familiar, accepted ’pei’.
